CASANDRA continues to draw listeners deeper into the world of ISLA TRANQUILITA with her new single “HOURGLASS.”

Vulnerability and sincerity take center stage in this track. CASANDRA’s ethereal vocals float above the soft instrumental, lulling you into a two-minute escape from reality. The song swells as her voice is doubled with her own vocals, inviting warm feelings of nostalgia and comfort over listeners.

This track is simple, easy to listen to, and its strength comes from its comfortability in this ease. Softer, almost silent moments in the track allow CASANDRA’s words to shine all the more. There is no sugar coating open, heartfelt thoughts like, “wonder if you’re mine, always, not just this time.”

Though the track is short, it does not fail to deliver the same emotional punch as some of her other tracks like “WANT VS NEED.” This track explores the fleeting nature of relationships, making its shorter length quite fitting. Some things, no matter how much we enjoy them, are bound by finite short lifespans. Perhaps some things are meant to only be enjoyed for a short period of time.

The track ends on a higher note than it began, almost as if the emotions from the start have been felt, digested, and moved through. Lush synths propel the song through feelings of love and eternity, into a world of blissful serenity.

“HOURGLASS” serves as the perfect link between the ISLA TRANQUILITA EP and the forthcoming ISLA TRANQUILITA LP, set to release July 24.
