Moving In Slow’s new single “Destroy The World” is the perfect track for validating and amplifying your main character syndrome. Catchy, upbeat and uniquely nostalgic, it certainly makes you feel that you can do anything, including destroy the world.

The track is a satirical exploration of the excesses of money and power. The lyrics play with the artist's own ideas of the emptiness in these financial superfluities. Upbeat indie rock instrumentals communicate the carefree nature of this song, amplifying its character and strengthening the criticism it offers.

“Destroy The World” is a track that could easily play at the beginning of a rom-com and get stuck in your head for the rest of the week. The track is easy to listen to again and again.

Although Moving In Slow is based in Seattle, Washington, this track could easily fill the silence of a hot, sunny day in California. Driving down the Pacific Coast Highway with the windows down and no destination.

The addictive nature of this song will have you replaying it before it is even over. It is uniquely nostalgic as the first listen sounds like something you’ve always loved and just recently re-discovered.

One of the most admirable qualities in the track is the forwardness of the lyrics. The opening lines “I want to buy an expensive car and thousands worth of food” immediately set the stage for the tone of the track. It is confident, fun and playful.

This type of forwardness is refreshing to see from an artist today. “Destroy the World” is a change of pace from usual first-person narratives of memories in songwriting. The song sings about the ifs of a reverie, making it at its core vivacious and exciting.

Moving In Slow is the musical project of Laurent (Lolo) Chavannes. It is music that centers you in your world or, as Chavannes likes to put it, “main character syndrome.”
