On September 17, Kennedy Cash took the stage at El Cid for her first-ever Los Angeles headline show, and from the second she walked out, it was pretty clear she was exactly where she was supposed to be.
The energy in the room was incredible. Friends, family, and fans filled the crowd, and you could genuinely feel how much love there was for Cash that night. I even had the chance to meet some of her friends and family before and during the show, and they could not stop talking about how proud they were of her. Between that support and the excitement from fans throughout the room, there was something really special about the atmosphere at El Cid. Then Cash got on stage and completely crushed it.
Cash’s stage presence was easily one of the biggest standouts of the night. She looked completely at home up there and had a confidence that immediately pulled you in. She knew how to work every part of the stage, when to turn her attention to the crowd, and how to keep the energy going from one song to the next. For her first LA headline show, she carried herself like someone who had been doing it for much longer.
Her vocals were strong throughout the entire set, but it was the way she performed them that made her so fun to watch. She danced, moved around the stage, played to different parts of the room, and never let the energy drop. Even when she wasn’t singing, your attention stayed on her.
She also knew exactly how to bring the crowd into the show with her. She reached down to hold fans’ hands, took their phones for selfies and videos mid-song, and at one point had what felt like the entire room holding their phone lights in the air and singing along. She wasn’t just performing in front of the crowd. She knew how to command the room, interact with the people in it, and make everyone feel like they were part of the show.
One of my favorite moments came toward the end of the night when Cash started jumping up and down and dancing around the stage while telling everyone how sad she was that the set was already almost over. It was such a fun moment because you could tell just how much she loved being up there. She clearly wasn’t ready for the night to end, and neither were the friends, family, and fans cheering her on.
Watching Cash perform, it was hard not to think about how natural she looked as a headliner. There is a difference between being able to sing on a stage and being able to own one, and Cash showed that she can do both. She had the vocals to back it up, but it was her confidence, charisma, and ability to hold the room that made the performance stand out.
For her first LA headline show, Cash made El Cid feel completely her own. Her friends, family, and fans walked into the room ready to support her, and Cash gave them plenty to celebrate.
If September 17 was any indication, Kennedy Cash looks very comfortable in the spotlight, and I have a feeling this is absolutely not the last time we will see the name “Kennedy Cash” at the top of the bill.
